Officer Travis Clark - Pyro

My name is Travis Clark.  I joined the Unified Police Department in 2014 and always had a passion to be a K9 Handler stemming from my military deployment in Afghanistan.  I have worked as a patrol officer in Herriman, Riverton, Midvale, and Kearns.  I’ve held detective assignments in Midvale and Kearns, joined the UPD SWAT Team in 2018, and became a member of the UPD Drone Unit in 2022.  Now as a newer handler in the UPD K9 Unit, I am excited for opportunities that lie ahead.

I am partnered with Pyro.  Pyro and I became partners December 14th 2023.  Pyro is a two and half year old Belgian Malinois from Poland.  Pyro and I have trained and worked together becoming quite a dynamic team.  Pyro is a dual purpose K9 certified in narcotics detection and criminal apprehension.  Pyro has competed in the UPOA K9 Trials and Bradley Taylor Memorial K9 Trials.

Pyro loves to play fetch, chew on his Kong toy, loves water, and going to work.  When Pyro is not fighting crime and protecting the citizens of Salt Lake County, he is loved and adored by his family at home.
