Sgt. Kevin Takeno - Jiro

Sgt. Kevin Takeno has been with the Unified Police Department since 2017. During that time he has worked in patrol, detectives, and SWAT. Sgt. Takeno was promoted to Sergeant in the summer of 2024 and came to the K9 Unit in January of 2026.

Sgt. Takeno’s partner is Jiro. Jiro is a 19‑month‑old German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix born in Hungary. Jiro, like the other K9s in the unit, is dual purpose in both narcotics detection and criminal apprehension.
